Chapter 222: Sonic Attack
Chapter 222: Sonic Attack
It was a wolf... not the usual one that Kadyn had encountered previously. It was huge, towering. Kadyn had never seen such a colossal wolf before in his life. The wolf’s eyes shone with vicious glint as it glanced down at him. The nostrils in its muzzle twitched as it tried to sniff the whiff of Kadyn. The saliva dripped from the corner of its mouth, and the long, ugly tongue was lolling from between its shiny and razor-sharp teeth inside its muzzle. Kadyn looked like an ant in front of its mammoth like frame.
"Nice!" Kadyn said. "Rank five beast. You must be the king of this area, right?"
"Roar!" The creature felt humiliated when it spotted Kadyn still smiling even in its presence. When a lowly human dared to act so brazenly in front of its majestic self? Where was the fear that it enjoyed in the puny human’s eyes whenever they encountered it? Where was the trembling in his body that was like a stunning dance to it? Where were the tears and panic and terror in his eyes? And why wasn’t he escaping with his ant-like legs from it? The audacity of this human!
The wolf king’s irritation peaked when Kadyn started to stroll towards it instead of running away. It couldn’t hold its beast instinct any further—the fury burned inside it chest—and lunged at Kadyn, eager to tear him apart, piece by piece and bone by bone, craving to taste his flesh and blood.
Kadyn grinned heroically when the wolf king moved towards him with its saliva-dripping muzzle, and then he vanished out of thin air as if he had never been there. When he appeared he was standing in the sky, above the monster’s gigantic skull. Not giving any chance for wolf to recollect its thought, Kadyn waved his hand and blades of wind discharged from them, digging into the thick layer of wolf’s skin. The beast howled in pain and fumbled around. The wolf, however, was too large, so although the attack hurt the creature, it didn’t do anything too severe.
The wolf king veered around and howled towards Kadyn in the sky.
"Ahhh!" Kadyn screamed in agony and covered his ears with both of his hands. It was the sonic attack. Damn, but Kadyn was caught unprepared. He had no idea it had such a trump card. He felt as if something was drilling inside his head through his ears. The pain was unbearable, and he almost lost control of his body and fell down. If it wasn’t for the occasional practice inside the Practice Room in the shop—where he improved his willpower tremendously—he would have died on the spot.
When he removed his hands from his ears, he realized that they were covered in blood. He couldn’t feel anything on the place of his head. He felt like a headless man. Half of his body had turned numb. Alas, he had no time to dwell on his misery. The wolf was again preparing to launch a sonic attack. He was already on the verge of losing and if the wolf succeeded in landing its sonic attack, Kadyn would be done for. He could not let that happen!
Wasting no time, he sent his psychic powers towards the creature, interrupting its attack, and as soon as it happened, Kadyn teleported in front of its long and ugly and fierce muzzle. Then with his beast claw he punched at the skull of the creature. Damn, but his hand hurt.
"Howl!!" The gigantic body of the wolf was thrown into the air and tumbled hundreds of meters away, smashing trees and boulders along the way, forming a clean path. It landed on the wall of the mountain, crushing boulders around it and leaving an impression on the mountain before slumping down on the ground miserably.
When it was still growling and whimpering on the ground, Kadyn appeared in front of its bleeding head that he had almost crushed, and again punched on the same spot. The monster’s head dug into ground, as its body twitched and struggle, trying to stand and fight its enemy. Kadyn, however, didn’t have any intention to give it any kind of chance to make a comeback. He continued to punch over and over and over again, until he turned the skull of the beast into mush.
The brain and blood and particles of bones scattered around; his face was crimson with red liquid, rolling from his face to the ground; his clothes were dripping with blood, and his hand was trembling with pain, covered in blood, bones, and grey brain-matter.
Kadyn’s breathing was hurried, uneven, and his face tired, fatigue evident in his beautiful blue eyes. He stumbled around and found a boulder before sitting down with its support. His ears were still numb, his body was aching, his head was bursting in pain, and he could not hear a thing. Damn, that was dangerous. He thought he was about to die, at that time.
Then he brought a vial of potion—one and only rank 5 healing potion he succeeded in refining—from his storage ring and gulped it down his throat. He closed his eyes and let it take the effect, the potion went inside his body and spread throughout it, cooling sensation washing his body, pain and fatigue slowly started vanishing and wounds started healing. After ten minutes later, his hearing came back. Thanks goodness. He thought he was done for. At least he wasn’t deaf yet.
Kadyn opened his eyes and stumbled on his feet with his aching body towards the wolf king’s corpse. It was huge, but so he couldn’t fit it inside the storage ring, it didn’t have that much space inside. Therefore, he decided to take out the important body parts of the monster that he could use to brew potion or which others could use to make artifacts.
Due to his fatigue and wounded body it took a long time for him to dissect the monster. If it wasn’t for the potion he couldn’t imagine how long it would have taken for him to heal.
When he was done with the dissection, it had already turned dark. He decided to go back.
