Chapter 221: Punishment

Chapter 221: Punishment

Kadyn sprinted through the thickets, copses, shrubberies and coverts, arriving at a clearing. He spotted a body lying on the ground and under a tree, face down, almost buried in the dirt; the body was still, not making even a single twitch; the blood had formed a pool around and under the body, painting the ground and corpse in crimson.

He hobbled towards the dead man and just when he extended his hand to turn the body around, the dead man opened his eyes and thrust a dagger towards Kadyn that he was hiding under his belly all this time. His face was covered in dust and fake blood dripped from his face, his pupils glittered with vicious glint; he was expressionless and eyes cold. Kadyn didn’t even flinch and waved his hand, grabbing the dagger with his claw. The clang reverberated in the silent clearing and everything turned rigid and still, almost freezing.

The attacker looked at Kadyn as if he had seen a ghost. He couldn’t believe that someone caught the dagger in his bare hand. The dagger was not a common weapon; it was a Special Rank artifact. Not even his boss, Rank 4 mage, would be able to do something so crazy.

"Nice try," Kadyn said, snatching the dagger from the man’s hand.

"How did you know?" asked the man with his trembling voice; fear was starting to show inside his eyes. He could tell that Kadyn was not someone he could offend. Not someone he could defeat. Maybe his boss would be able to take him down. That gave him some reassurance.

"Oh, I didn’t know. Your play was too perfect," said Kadyn with a smile. "But a little vigilance isn’t too bad, right?"

"Nice!" came a voice from the thickets and a man strolled towards Kadyn with other three men. He was tall with broad shoulders and long hawk-like nose and a square face with drooping mustaches. "Not bad, but do you think you would be able to escape just like that? Fat chance!"

"Oh, so you are the leader?"

"So what if I am?"

Kadyn nodded and then his body flashed, vanishing, when he appeared, he was standing in front of the man. The party leader’s eyes widened in shock; he flinched and stumbled back, trying to maintain as much distance from Kadyn as possible. "Wh—who are you? How could you be so fast?"

"Because I am fast that’s why... I am fast?"

"Wh—ptfff!"

Confusion was still written all over his face when Kadyn punctured his chest with his clawed hand. "So in the next life don’t bother someone who is faster than you, mind you."

"Puchi!" The hand dripped with crimson liquid when he pulled it out. The leader coughed mouthful of blood, the small chunks of his organs gushed out with it. With scales and blood, his hand looked as if it was the claw of some kind of vicious beast that had just slaughtered hundreds of people with its bare hands.

The scene was horrifying; everyone’s heart on the spot turned cold. And they were unable to utter a single word for a moment. The leader was the fourth rank mage, glorious and unreachable in their eyes, but a small boy who didn’t even looked twenty killed him as if he was nothing but an ant. Without any struggle. Without letting him plead. Without showing any mercy. They could not fathom his rank and strength. He was a monster in their eyes. Cruel and vicious one at that.

Kadyn turned around and grinned towards the remaining men. They trembled, stumbling back, looking at his creepy smile and finally fell on their knees. "Please, forgive us. We have gone blind due to our greed. Please, let us live this time, sir."

Kadyn smiled and said, "Alright. I will let you live."

Their expression suddenly brightened—

"However," Kadyn interrupted, "you need to pass the test first. Come here. Stand in front of me," he said to the man who was pretending dead previously. The man hesitated, fear visible inside his eyes and over his face, but moved towards Kadyn, nonetheless.

Kadyn placed his hand over his hand and a powerful Psychic energy started to seep into the man’s head. Soon Kadyn retracted his hand, looking at the man coldly. "Five rapes, ten murders, fifteen robberies."

The man paled and eyed Kadyn with horror-struck face. "Sir, I can explain—puchi!"

"Explain it in another world," Kadyn sneered, and turned towards the others "You also want to give me an explanation for all the atrocities that you have committed?"

"I-I-I—pttfff!" Kadyn didn’t even let him complete his sentence before separating his head from his shoulder. "Two rapes that you have committed are already enough to make you worthy of worst of the punishments. You should feel fortunate that I am in a hurry."

Then he turned towards the other two and grinned. Without waiting for a second they turned and escaped.

"Do you think it is possible to escape from me?" And he chased after them. Although they had gone in different directions it wasn’t a problem for someone like him—who had space element—to catch up with them. In just a few minutes he beheaded them.

After dealing with those men, Kadyn continued his journey. The deeper he want, the feeling of danger started to deepen in his heart. He could tell that there were some frightening creatures living in this forest. However, he was no longer that weak and naïve boy. He was Mature Rank mage, just a single rank below from reaching the strongest stage on the Pengolla.

Kadyn encountered many beasts on the way, but they were no threat for him. He slaughtered them like chopping vegetables, and when he became bored of killing them, he used his Psychic Element to make them leave. He was like a lion roaming among the herd of dogs.

At this moment, a beast roared in the distance. Kadyn stared at the newcomer and his face turned serious.
